For me, the most important factor is that the host must have enough resources to sustain enough traffic for your site. I've once been with a host that force (to some extend) me to upgrade to a VPS and how possibly would you think that a site with less than 400 pageviews a day would need a VPS? So be sure you check their CPU usage limit for your package. =)

In regards to the cpanel topic, there is 1 top advantage to having cpanel that alot of people don’t think about. Its much easier to change servers if your host uses cpanel, because WHM (or web host manager) has a built in script that lets either the web hosting provider, or you if you do desire, to get your site transferred to the new host.

Thanks for this post. I'm currently using BlueHost to host my websites and so far, they seem to be pretty reliable. I'm not sure, though, what other people's opinions are about the specifications of the hosting plan they offer, as you could get more from another host.

I have read so many times people discouraging from purchasing cheap or affordable web hosting or sometimes even hosting companies providing Unlimited Bandwidth Hosting – what exactly is with it either of these two?

I have chosen Hostgator and have enjoyed them so far. Uptime has been great. However I am paying about $9 USD a month, and this is for their monthy payments. If you are looking for a new host don't go signing up for 1 year of service unless you have very reliable information saying they are good. Its not worth paying $60 for 1 year of hosting and 1 month into the contract you find that it sucks.

Also stay away from cheap plans offering unlimited space, this basically means that your shared host could get way bogged down by other peoples "unlimited" use of your shared resources.

Nice site.

I love the search options like php scripting, etc., plus I noticed their top listings aren't all the same reseller packages that offer the best affiliate payouts which is refreshing.

It's definitely worth a bookmark.

Nice write up. I can't complain about my webhost, which is Bluehost, but I see from your review that they really have a plethora of packages to offer their clients. Need to take a look at prices, though.

I know, simple design does not stopping one being a good host, some of great hosting companies knowhost and tms had very simple web design. 4cheapwebhosting.com should really redesign their website make it more 2009.

Finding a 100% uptime can be an impossible task. 99% sounds nice but then again I saw it calculated somewhere and it's like 3 days a year. 3 full days!

Hey dig up into your Analytics stats. If you get most of your visitors from the US, you might as well invest in the cheap servers from the US. A believe the difference in cost must be huge..

In China, the bandwidth is costly, so web hosting services there are expensive and might not be fast when pages are loaded from overseas computers. And if I host within the USA, visitors from China may experience slow page loads.
